Success Story

Rachael Rollette, our 2009 Achiever of the Year, is a shy, young woman with intellectual and language impairments. When she began working at our Goodwill, she struggled with her communications skills to share thoughts and concerns with staff and other employees. Since she began here, Rachael has matured, evident in her ability to express herself and take on new tasks.

She has also moved into an independent living situation, where she manages her own finances, balances work and her social life - which now includes planning for her "dream wedding."

She assists others in her work environment, and completes jobs with precision, meeting the same benchmarks as those expected of employees without disabilities. Her ultimate goal is to work in a florist shop, learning design and sales to be successful in this career path. Serving as a real inspiration to others, we were delighted to nominate Rachael for this honor.

She received this surprise award at our annual Awards Luncheon in May, 2010 at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant in Frederick. Along with 2009 Graduate of the Year, Terrence Williams, our Goodwill is proud of ALL of our award winners at this event!
