At Goodwill, we are deeply committed to supporting veterans as they transition back into civilian life. Through our partnership with Platoon 22, the Platoon Veteran Services Center (VSC) at Goodwill offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the unique needs of our veterans.
From career development to mental health support, our programs are tailored to empower veterans and their families.
Goodwill’s Veteran Services Center is dedicated to increasing the employability of veterans. We provide:
- Career Coaching and Training: Our career development programs include job search assistance, resume building, interview preparation, and vocational training. These services are designed to enhance veterans’ skills and increase their chances of securing meaningful employment.
- Job Placement Services: We work closely with local employers to identify job opportunities that match the skills and interests of our veterans. Our goal is to help veterans find stable, fulfilling careers.
- Ongoing Support: Veterans receive continuous support even after securing a job, ensuring long-term career growth and success.
Mental Health and Counseling
Recognizing the importance of mental health, Goodwill’s VSC offers a variety of services to support the psychological well-being of veterans:
- Counseling Services: Access to professional counseling helps veterans address issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Our counselors provide a safe and supportive environment for veterans to express their concerns and receive the help they need.
- Rehabilitation Programs: We offer rehabilitative services to assist veterans in overcoming substance abuse and other personal struggles, promoting overall well-being and recovery.
- Health Administration Benefits: Veterans can obtain assistance with navigating Veterans Health Administration benefits and other health services to ensure they receive the care they deserve.
Community Support
Creating a sense of community is essential for the well-being of veterans. At Goodwill’s VSC, we focus on:
- Recreation and Fellowship: Our center provides a space for veterans to connect, share experiences, and build supportive relationships. Regular social events and activities foster a sense of camaraderie and belonging.
- Homelessness Prevention: We work to reduce homelessness among veterans by providing resources and support to those at risk. This includes access to housing assistance and emergency support services.
- Suicide Prevention: Spreading awareness about suicide prevention and offering resources is a critical part of our mission. We strive to provide veterans with the necessary tools and support to cope with life’s challenges.
